Our filters range from MERV 8 to MERV 13 ratings, and each rating filters different particles.

MERV 8: Dust, Pollen, Lint, Mold Spores, Pet Dander.
MERV 10: Mold spores, hair spray, fabric protector, dusting aids, cement dust and pet dander, smog.
MERV 11: Humidifier dust, lead dust, milled flour, auto emissions and other fumes, plus everything a MERV 10 filters.
MERV 13: Bacteria, tobacco smoke, and particles that make you sneeze, plus everything a MERV 8 thru 11 filter captures. MERV 13 filters may not be compatible with all HVAC systems, so make sure to check before you buy!
Understanding your HVAC system is important. How many filters does your system need, what size filters does your system require, can your system handle a MERV 13 rating, or should you choose a rating that's a step lower?
An important issue is that filters don't just exist to filter out harmful particles from your air; they also protect your HVAC system from damage and malfunctioning. Dirty, clogged filters are the most common cause of HVAC system malfunction, which leads to costly repairs. Regularly changing your filters extends the life of your HVAC system, while also providing a healthier breathing environment for your household or workplace.

Another key thing to understand is what MERV rating you need. If your household is pet free and generally healthy, a MERV 10 rated filter will likely suffice. Have pets, seasonal allergies, mild asthma, or poor air quality in your neighborhood? You may want to go with a MERV 11. Looking for an extra boost in filtration to keep the air in your home super clean and fresh? You want a MERV 13 - just make sure your system is compatible before buying!

Finally, it's important to know when to change your filters, and remember to do so! The standard recommendation is to replace your filters once every three months, but if you have a pet, filters should be changed every 2 months. If you have multiple pets, or if a member of your household has allergies or asthma, filters should be changed once a month. Remember to change your filters with a reminder on your calendar, or by setting an alarm on your phone!
